For instance, Anberlin likes to watch Pinocchio. At first she called it Docchi Docchi, then she started calling it Pinocchi Docchi, but now she is getting closer and has started calling it Pinocchi Nocchi. Cute.

Then there is Brynlie who will just blabber and babble for a while and say one word like "mih", which, by the way, is milk. I also love the way she exaggerates her lip movements when trying to say real words... she makes it look much more difficult than it really is :)

Halloween- finally!!!

Well, I thought I would finally post some Halloween pics... I know I procrastinate way too much! Anyway, we had a lot of Halloween festivities to attend this year, and Anberlin loved all of it... Brynlie liked it too, just wasn't quite as excited to get dressed up for all of these things. And for some reason, even though we had all these things to go to, we didn't get any good pictures. Oh well. You get what you get.
This year Anberlin chose to be a fairy princess.

Brynlie got to be the pirate wench :) So glad I got to use that costume again!

So our first Halloween activity was going to my in-laws' ward party. And when I say party, I mean PARTY! Not only was there the chili cook-off, but there were activities for the kids, the big popcorn machine, fire pits, music, Greg's dad brought his trebuchet, hay rides, and then to top it all off, a small plane with parachuting super heroes and then the plane dropped loads of candy all over the field (and party goers).

Our next activity was of course our ward party with the trunk or treat. And finally we had actual Halloween. This was the first year we took Anberlin trick or treating. Bryn came too, but we just kept her in the stroller. Anberlin LOVED it. She got the hang of it pretty quick and kept asking to go "more more more!!!"

Brynlie and Anberlin like to be fancy. Have I mentioned before how they can be pretty girly??? Bryn still isn't quite as bad as Anberlin is, but I think she will get there in no time.

Anberlin is actually probably quite a bit more than just girly... she is a little diva. She has to wear a twirly skirt every day, she is constantly getting into my shoes, always asking to "get ready" which translates to putting on lots of makeup all over her face, and she sleeps with her purses. If its not sparkly or pink she does not want it. Her nails have to be painted about once a week. She doesn't even like to wear footed pajamas because she can't see her beautiful toenail polish!

Greg had some races. Unfortunately I did not get to ride along with him this time since I had the girls with me. But I did get to watch a few runs and support him a little. I think he did well this day, and of course he always has fun!

I also got the girls all caught up on their shots, and that means going to the doctors office, which means the girls get suckers. I think Brynlie enjoyed hers, what do you think?

And I will finish off with Laundry basket rides! They love them, and I love my girls, and I especially love it when they play nice together!

So I will be catching up for the next couple posts. Nothing big, just some pics that I liked mostly. So here are a few things from September.

Here is Anberlin eating her dinner of broccoli. I thought kids were supposed to hate vegetables, but this is the kind of food that this girl prefers... except for candy and ice cream of course. But, seriously, if she has the choice of chicken nuggets or broccoli, she would choose broccoli everytime. I guess I can't complain too much. I just think it is so funny... As is her face.

No this is not dirt all over Brynlie's face... this was her first big accident. We were playing downstairs and the girls were on the little slide/play cube thing. Bryn somehow ended up going over the side, from the top. I was right there but somehow missed the whole thing happen... But she was crying and I noticed a tiny bit of blood and assumed she had a very ligh

t bloody nose and just wiped it off then I put her to bed since it happened right at bedtime. Then the morning comes and I see this large scab over the tip and just under her nose. The blood I saw was actually from a rug burn, but I just couldn't see it at the time! Poor girl. She looked pretty awesome for a while. This picture was from a few days after it happened and some of the scab had already come off.

Anberlin started taking dance! She loves it. Especially the part where she gets to stare at herself in the mirror all the time :)

And here is Brynlie getting to work destroying the living room. I think it is her favorite thing.

Scene: I was cleaning up Brynlie after a snack in the high chair and just noticed the huge mess of torn up cheese she threw all over the floor. Anberlin quietly observing behind me.

Me-"Oh Bryn, you little stinker poo."

Anberlin- "Brynlie a stinker poo, I a STINKER PEE PEE!!!"

Well, I thought I would catch up a little. This is from late August. Yes, very late! We went to the fair! Mostly just for the petting zoo and fair food. Here is Bryn chowing on some snacks.

It was a hot day... so Anberlin enjoyed standing in front of the portable AC.

Anberlin was NOT at all impressed by the butterfly tent. I thought it would be her favorite of course.

At least she loved the icees we got afterwards. Yum.

On a separate day Greg and I got to spend the day by ourselves while the girls went with Grandma! Yay. So we tried to make the most of our time alone. Started off with a tandem ride along the greenbelt. We started from our house, and yes, it was another hot day so we made sure to wear our swimsuits so we could periodically jump in the freezing river. Refresh!

Before going too far we stopped at Chik-fil-A and gave our bodies some energy. Then we continued on our way and we ended up going all the way to Barber park and then came back on the other side of the river. This was taken on our way back and I have decided it is really awkward to get a picture of two people while riding a tandem. Once we got back to downtown we stopped at Jamba Juice and gave ourselves some more refreshments and relaxed for a bit before heading home. And we definitely needed that relaxing... the entire bike ride was a little over 22 miles total. And we were on a single speed tandem. Our legs were worked out.

So after we relaxed for a bit we wanted to go longboarding. We don't get to go nearly as often as I would like now that we have kids. I miss just being able to pick up our boards anytime we like and head out the door for a nice cruise, but I guess our kids are cute enough to make it worth it! So we headed out with our boards and started out with the hill on Maple Grove that goes down to Chinden. That hill is very tame and a nice warm up, so then we went to the hill at the end of Mitchell St. that is nearby. That was a little more steep and busier than I had thought it would be. It also had a very blind right corner which was pretty dumb of us, mostly because we were't able to make the corner, but thankfully there was another street that branched off to the left so we took that, but if there had been a car coming around that corner, pretty sure that either way we went we could have gotten hit very easily! So basically I wouldn't recommend that hill to anybody. Then we got in the car and headed to the foothills in search of some new hills. We found one. I forget exactly where it was, maybe Greg will remember. We walked to the top and started our descent. Started getting speed wobbles. Boo. Got them under control, but then at the bottom I ran into another problem. The bottom of the hill had median with trees planted in it etc. We had planned on taking the exit on the left, which is right where cars would be going up the hill of course, Greg made it out just fine. But there was a car wanting to go up by the time I made it down that far and so I was forced to go to the right. Well, with the combination of my board still wanting to do the speed wobbles, the bricks that were laid at the entrance to the hill, and the fact that I had to make a hard right turn, well, I went down. I tried to get as low as possible to avoid it and help with the crash landing, but I still came out with some road rash. Thankfully I didn't hit my head. But my right arm and hand did take a nice hit. I also got some road rash on my other hand as well as on my right hip and shoulder.

However, we still had plans. We were going to go to dinner and a movie afterward, and I didn't want to spoil our night without the kids, so instead of going back home to clean up and change we simply stopped at the nearest Winco and I went into the bathroom to clean up. That was painful and I did get a lot of strange glances. Once I got it mostly cleaned we picked up some bandages and some ointment with pain reliever so I could patch myself up a bit. Then we headed to the Creperie for some delicious crepes and then went to see the Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Good ending to a mostly great day.

This was the bit on my arm after scrubbing it at home later that night. I still have a nice

purple-ish scar. All the road rash was painful and made it hard to shower and sleep for a few days, but mostly I felt bad for making Greg feel so bad. He was pretty upset that I got hurt. And upset that the dang car was in my exit lane. I love him.

A couple of weeks ago I had some hair accomplishments for the girls. 1st- I FINALLY got Brynlie to leave in some piggy tails!!! I actually found some elastics that she wouldn't immediately pull out. So now I can do her hair. I think it makes her look so grown up!!!

The 2nd thing- I gave Anberlin her very first HAIRCUT!!! I was scared to cut it, but it was getting so LONG and it was so hard to keep the tangles out, so i went for it. Of course I completely forgot to take before pictures... so all you get are the afters. However, just imagine... when I pulled her hair down, it would touch her bum. Yes, she has a lot of hair.

But then you see this, and yes, I most definitely did cut it! This is that same curl she was holding.

And the main pile of hair. It doesn't look like much, but I promise it was... or least it feels like it was! Maybe I am just really attached to her hair??? It is pretty awesome hair. Anyway, I am glad I cut it... so much easier to comb through, much fewer tears!!!

Well, I am a little behind. Here is what went down in July.

For the Fourth of July we went up to the cabin and played in the water. The girls love the boat... Even if Anberlin freaked out every time the sun got in her eyes... good thing I brought that wide brim hat! She seriously pulled it down around her face the entire time! Can you say "diva"?!?

They love Dad too.

Playing on the mini beach. We had a great time building sand castles then immediately squishing them.

Unfortunately I didn't get many pics of that weekend, but we did have a lot of fun. It is good hanging out with family :) And here is a little video clip of me and a friend on the swing that Greg's dad built. And just to clarify... Kenna says "Mitch" not the five letter word that rhymes :)

Later in July we went on an overnight campout with some friends. We went to this little place up in the woods up near Banks ID. It was Brynlie's first time camping and I think she did great. The girls did get EXTREMELY dirty... and after not very long I just gave up trying to keep them somewhat clean. There were large boulders that we were fun to climb upon... and as you can see Greg took advantage of them. Also off to the left in this picture there was a tree that had fallen that Anberlin and her friend Ashlyn turned into a "house". Cute.

Can you see that dirt all over Brynlies face??? And this was not very long after we arrived... just think of what it was like by the end!!!

We made sure we had plenty of root beer. Tess was loving it!

A while after this picture^ was taken and it had gotten dark, the guys went out after the cows that kept creeping up towards our camp spot to scare them away. Apparently the area is an open range this time of year. Explains the cow pies that were everywhere... don't worry, we cleaned them out of our camp site.

Food-quite possibly the best part of camping.

Bugs! At least Denny and Ashlyn weren't afraid... Anberlin wouldn't go near that beetle!

I can tell Anberlin thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I should also mention this was Anberlin's first experience of going potty outside. She handled it like a champ.

Thanks to the Rogers fam, Colby, Shayne, Morgan and Jess to a fun weekend!

Now before I go into the next series of pics I want to say that they day after we went camping Brynlie FINALLY started walking!!! Well, I guess started isn't the correct term, because she had been able to walk for quite some time, just wouldn't do it. But on July 24th after church she just decided to get up and go all on her own and has been doing it just fine ever since! Apparently that camp out made something click!

Now on we go. The following weekend Greg had a car show that he entered. For those of you who do not know, Greg loves cars! He has a Subaru Forester that he has modified a bunch and he races it during the summer at autocross (a timed cone course). It is a lot of fun to ride along... if you ever get the chance I highly recommend it :) It is also fun to just watch the racing. Anyway, Greg entered in this import auto show which was mostly Japanese imports.

Were there awards??? Why yes there were, and Greg received BEST SUBARU! Quite an accomplishment if you ask me... there were a lot of Subarus.

We ate lunch at Smash Burger. Yum yum. And then we finished off the day with some swimming. Yes we love to swim and will go as often as possible! I will try to post some pics of that later!

Anberlin's Birthday!

So Anberlin's birthday was actually last month and I am just now getting around to this. Oops. She turned 3 this year! She had been so excited for her birthday to FINALLY come. When it was Brynlie's birthday the month before, Anberlin was so disappointed that it was not her birthday. She kept asking all the time if it was her birthday yet and she would keep talking about her pink birthday cake she decided she was going to have.

Well, Anberlin's birthday did finally come and this is what it looked like...

I don't think she has enough princess attire. Also, I love her face.

Basically it was a good day. Too bad Brynlie has been teething this week. It could have been even better!

Also, yesterday I took her to her one year checkup. She is 70% for height, 95% for weight, and 90% ? for head circumference. So she is starting to average out a little more... no longer off the charts for everything!!! Let me tell you, she makes my arms so much stronger! She is already 25.2 lbs! And she can wear some 2T clothing... it is like she just skipped a whole year! It is amazing how different she is from Anberlin.

So, some of you know that we were just in the Bahamas to celebrate our 5 whole years of marriage. Basically it was awesome. Not a single drop of rain. Approximately 85 degrees every day... 75 deg at night. LOTS of relaxing. Lots of swimming, snorkeling, exploring, food, and overall fun!!!

(Please note that the pics are mostly but not entirely in order. Sorry there are so many of just us on the beach. But the beaches were really nice. And we didn't think to take many pics of much else.)

Right after we arrived. Please excuse the pasty tired faces. It was a REALLY REALLY REALLY long trip out there. But oh so worth it.

One day we took the bus downtown and after shopping the straw market for a bit we decided to walk over the bridge to Paradise Island and check out the Atlantis Resort. Didn't get any up close pics, but here are some from the bridge. Basically it is extremely lavish and even more expensive. If Greg and I wanted to purchase day passes for the water park... only about $250. I don't think so. Unfortunately those parts were private access, so we didn't get to see everything. Oh well. I should also mention that we had a dog following us from downtown all the way over the bridge and into the Atlantis area... it was a long walk too. Finally she found somebody else who was willing to pet her and moved on :)

This is a different day on our snorkeling tour thingy. We took a large catamaran out to Rose Island and some surrounding reef. Here is a lighthouse on a mini island on our way there.

More Rose Island. It was a really good day. The water was nice and warm, we got to see plenty of little fishies, we played some beach volleyball and it was awesome.

Other things about the trip... We tried conch for the first time, it is a little chewy. I am glad that we didn't rent a car. They drive on the left, and they are kind of scary drivers. Don't bother with eating at the hotels, the food is WAY overpriced and not very good at all. Local food is much better :) If you are in a touristy area you will get bothered a LOT with people trying to sell you souvenirs, Cuban cigars, dresses, jet ski rides, etc. Sellers in the Straw Market to the bartering for you... and EVERYTHING is on sale EVERY day :) The locals have a Jamaican type accent. I think I saw one white local. All of the locals will tell you that they had blonde hair and blue eyes when the moved to the Bahamas. That is all I can think of. For now.

I want to go back.

because after she said Ma Ma this morning she did more. Greg just got home from work a few minutes ago. Brynlie, Anberlin and I were sitting on the floor reading a book and when Brynlie saw Greg she stood up and said "Dad"! That was her first time standing up and saying Dad unprompted! I know... she is 11 months and is just now standing up... once again I think she is a little top heavy with all those rolls :) The pic below is a reinactment since we didn't quite have the camera ready for her real first one. Please ignore the disaster in my house :) Also, I found another tooth in Brynlie's mouth today. I think it must have been there for a while because it is poking out about halfway now... I promise I am aware that she has been teething, she just doesn't like me peeking in her mouth!

but it shows just how happy Brynlie is just about every time I go in to get her up in the morning or after a nap. In fact she will usually get so excited that she will start jumping (kind of) so much that she knocks herself off the crib rail and will fall back into the crib. Its cute. She is such a sweet little girl and I love her tons. And today I was really excited because I was holding her in my lap and she stuck out her little pointer finger and gave me a poke then called me Ma Ma! She has been saying that and Da Da for a while now, but I think this was the first time she has ever said it without me prompting her to do it first. Made my day. And then to make it even better, she did it again a couple hours later (this time however she started hitting me instead of just poking)

Even though they are treating the epilepsy he still has seizures, so he will be going through brain surgery in May to hopefully help him. In order to get this done they need some financial help and are holding a silent auction. Apparently Brynlie is big or something. Do you like how I couldn't get Anberlin's old bear snuggly suit zipped up all the way? And what you can't tell in the picture is that her arms were pretty much pinned at her sides because of how small it is on her. What happened to not having to buy new stuff since they were born at the same time of year??? Oh well... at least it was something.

Thanksgiving weekend

So about the only photos I took this last weekend happened to be of cookie decorating and then some snow action. Here is Anberlin with her cookie. Please notice her participation in Movember with her lovely blue marker mustache. And then notice her gigantic pile of sprinkles on the cookie. Awesome.

Wasn't quite as happy about being on the sled. Maybe next year. Also there is Greg sporting his Movember stache.

Sick girls

Yes, the girls have been sick since Monday... not so much fun... especially with Brynlie at night :( But at least they still love each other. And as you can see below they share really well too.

Thankfully it doesn't faze Brynlie one bit and is still a happy girl. In fact, this is how happy she was just after she tried getting the milk and Anberlin wouldn't have any of that either.

here are a few other things that have been happening.
Brynlie likes to cuddle. And she's super cute while doing it!

Brynlie is also now 6 months old! I can not believe how fast she is growing up. It also doesn't help that she is huge for her age... in fact she is officially off the charts for her weight. 20lbs. 11 oz. Chunk a Munk! Do you see those rolls around her ankles?? At least she is pretty tall for her age too, about 92%. To celebrate her first 6 months of life she started off the day with a MASSIVE blow out. Banana chunk poo everywhere! Gross. Then we had a photo shoot.

Anberlin has also been busy. Potty training! So far things have gone pretty good. She was already going poo on the potty regularly and on the 13th I got up the nerve to finally put her in panties. On the third day she had her first accident free day! She hasn't been perfect since then, but she does try... she usually is on her way to the potty and can't get there in time but will finish upin the right place. She really doesn't like wet pants. Can't say I blame her.

A little update

for all of you. I feel like we have been really busy.... doing what exactly, who knows. Time goes by too fast for me.

Brynlie got her first haircut. Of course I forgot to take a before picture... but imagine this. Rat tails. Emphasis on the multiples. Then make them scraggly too. Yes, she had three scraggly patches of hair, one in the center of the back of her head and one behind each ear. The hairs started at about the same height as the top of her ears and grew to about two inches below the rest of her hair. And please note that all the hair beneath these little patches are still only about half an inch long. Eew. So I trimmed them up and it looks much better. She still has other areas where the hair grows longer than the rest, but thankfully they are on the top of her head and grow in thicker so they don't look quite so dirty.

We carved some pumpykins. Greg likes to show his mad face making skills.

California Road Trip

We decided we needed to visit my brother Brent and his wife Amber in Loma Linda. They were kind enough to let us stay at their place. We had a blast and visited quite a few places. There are definitely a lot of things to do there,... just too many people. Anberlin had a ton of fun playing with her cousins.

Surprisingly, the kids did very well on the 26+ hours of driving going to and from Southern California. It was the last 45 minutes both ways where the kids just lost it and I almost lost my mind.

a Blessing, a Birthday & a Bubble Butt

Well, Blogger likes to load everything backward, so we are going to start out with the Bubble Butt-

For Anberlin's birthday party we went to Greg's parents and had a swim party... glorious good fun!... Except for when I mistake a regular pull-up diaper for a pull-up SWIM diaper. The result is this.

I think the diaper filled up with her body weight in water... she looked like a giant ant standing on two legs. I don't know if you can tell by her face, but she was not liking the blow up diaper very much... especially when she looked down into her swimsuit and saw all of the little moisture absorbent beads spilling out of the diaper and clinging to her chest. She kind of freaked at that and it was time to end the swimming and take a shower.

By the end of the summer she WILL be jumping off the diving board without help and without anybody catching her. Its a strict policy.

Now here we are on her actual birthday opening presents... can you tell she likes play food???

So for her special day we took her to this rad little candy shop and let her pick out a bag of treats... afterward we had Birthday ice cream (or iceimmy as Anberlin calls it) sandwiches (the cake came a couple days later at her party). Anberlin then proceeded to take a couple of the suckers she had picked out earlier and dip them into her ice cream. Tasty. Also on a side note, it looks as if she has inherited my marvelous nose flaring abilities.

Well it's true... we finally have another baby at our house. Brynlie was born last Monday the 17th. Everybody is happy and healthy, just a little tired from getting used to a new schedule! She was born at 11:41 am and weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 in. She was a little bigger than I had expected, good thing I believe in epidurals!

Motorhead

No, not the band. As many of you all ready know, I love cars. I love driving them and tinkering around with them. In the past few years, I've dabbled into Motorsports. "What do you race with??" you may ask. Yes, I race my family wagon Forester. Laugh if you must, but it holds its own quite well. I started out in the drag racing scene at Firebird Raceway. I didn't do it competitively. I just did it to see how fast I could get the car to go. I was able to muster a 12.9 second 1/4 mile pass at over 106 mph. I was happy with that time, but I wanted more. That just wasn't much fun.

I later discovered autocross. Autocrosses are sanctioned events put on by local and national car clubs. They are races, usually in large parking lots or airports, where one car at a time races against the clock going between various cones. I'm not very good, but it is a BLAST. I recommend it to anyone. It doesn't get old because you consistently improve your times and the courses are always different.

So yes I am really lame and have not blogged in FOREVER! Truly I am sorry about that and have had many good intentions to do better, but obviously they have done about zero good. So anyway, here is a little fill in on what we have been up to.

Anberlin is getting so big and so grown up! She talks a lot now... one of my favorite words to hear her say is AWESOME! It is really cute :) She loves being outdoors and anywhere other than at home. Her favorite movie is Finding Nemo and is constantly asking for "Shishy". She loves to color. She loves shoes. She loves to sing and dance. She is constantly trying to crawl all over me and that can be really uncomfortable right now! She LOVES bathtime... she would stay in there all night if I let her, and the funny thing is that she doesn't even need any toys in there.... a cup and her bottles of baby wash will suffice. So basically we love her tons and can't believe how much she is growing. Here are a few recent pictures of our favorite girl in the world! (for now anyway!!!)

What else has been taking up our time you ask? Well the biggest thing has been working on our basement. We built another room for Anberlin to move into once baby gets here, and we redid our T.V. area. It has been a LOT of work... mostly for Greg :) But it has been so worth it! I love how everything has turned out!!! Here is a pic of Greg putting up framework for the new bedroom. We will post more before and afters once we get them loaded up!

Other than that things are going good. The new baby will be here soon and I can't believe we are going to have 2 KIDS!!! I don't think I am ready for it. But right now I am fat... and uncomfortable... and sick... so I think I could be ok with getting this baby OUT of my belly!!! Anberlin is in for a big wake up call... she hasn't quite figured out what is going on. All I have really been able to do is make her think her belly button is a baby. So hurry up May 15th... or sooner I guess would be ok too....

but oh well... Anberlin had some fun this Halloween. I made her a Pirate costume,, and I think she looked adorable! While we were taking some pictures, our neighbor walked by with their dogs... Anberlin freaks out with excitement every time she sees a dog.

One day Greg found a baby squirrel in our front yard and he seemed kind of lost and unable to do things that normal squirrels can do, like climb and run away...so we decided to make him a little home. The next day we put him out in a tree where we have seen other squirrels, hopefully he is ok.

West Coast Road Trip

Earlier this month we had about a week and a half that we were able to do some much needed play... it really started off 4th of July weekend when our buddy John Holman came in to town for a visit and we took off to the cabin for the weekend. For some reason none of us took any pics, how lame! But we did have a really good time on the boat and just hanging out, and of course watching fireworks.

Then that Monday sometime in the afternoon we headed out on the road towards the coast... no real plans, just an idea of a few places we wanted to hit up.

Monday night we ended the day in Boardman, OR where I-84 meets up with the Columbia river. It was a little late, and we were desperate for a place to pitch our tents, so we found an RV park that had a little patch of grass for us to stay the night. I was a little nervous to find out how Anberlin would react to sleeping in the tent, but it turns out she absolutely LOVES it! As soon as we would get into the tent for the night she would go nuts... jumping and screaming and crawling over everything! It was so funny to watch... but Greg and I would have to ignore her until she would finally crash on the floor between us. And she slept really well... I don't know if I slept quite as well considering she kept taking over my pillow, but it was fun.Our first stop on Tuesday was Multnomah Falls, OR... if you haven't been you should sometime. They are right off the freeway and they are beautiful. I remember going there as a kid and hiking the trails... unfortunately this trip didn't really allow for that.

After Multnomah we stopped in Portland for a bit. Got a bite to eat, got a little lost, and then headed on out to TILLAMOOK! Yay for cheese!After Tillamook we finally got to the beach! It was a little beach just outside of Tillamook called Cape Mears. It was nice, a little windy, but its always like that on the coast of the NW. Anberlin loved the water, surprise, surprise! She would scream if we even turned her away from it!Another surprise, she loved digging in the sand and then eating it!
After we got Anberlin all cleaned up from the beach we headed out to find a camping spot for the night. We found it really annoying how there would be road signs for camping and we would get there and it would be an RV park... some of which would not even allow tents...VERY lame! But we finally found a place, Nehalem Bay state park in OR. Yeah, we got thr last camping spot which was a handicap spot... right next to all of the trails leading to the bathroom and right accross from a really abnoxious group that had christmas light hung up and every other luxury you can think of... don't ask me how that is considered camping. Then in the middle of the night I heard a racoon that got into some of the food we laft out...whoops. Oh well, it only got away with a granola bar and I put everything away after that.

So Wednesday we got up and headed up the coast and our first stop was Canon Beach. You could probably say that half this trip was dedicated to the Goonies. And Canon Beach is where some of that precious film was filmed!A little look out after on the way up to Seaside, which as far as I know is not in Goonies, but it is a nice place to stop and we were able to pick up a nice large bag of saltwater taffy.After Seaside we kept on going to Astoria, and as you can see we found the Goonies house...YAY! After Astoria we headed over the super cool Astoria bridge and crossed into WASHINGTON! Whoohoo for home! First thing we did there was drive on long beach...apparently it is the longest beach in the world, or so they claim... I am not sure on the true facts, but it is approximately 25 miles of beach, and that is a whole lot!After Long beach, we drove around for a while trying to fins the town of Holman, since that is our buddy's last name. Come to find out the place no longer really exists... apparently it has now been absorbed by Ilwaco, WA. Then, after giving up on Holman we decided "Hey we are only an hour and a half from my parents house... lets go!" We had initially only planned on going into WA just to find Holman... BUT John had never been to Washington, and we decided we had plenty of time to make our way to Seattle as well! So we drove to my house and stayed the night there and Anberlin got to play with some of her cousins and it was good to see my fam.

Then on Thursday we got kind of a late start but we made our way up north a bit... and made sure to stop at the shrine of Jimi Hendrix. It was kind of funny seeing the kinds of people there... when we got there, there was a group of people sitting around drinking beer and talking mostly nonsense because they were half drunk. My favorite part about that was the fact that the girl who seemed to be in charge made sure that nobody brought a beer can back into her car... but hey who cares if she left driving half drunk?! Awesome. And we also liked the fact that there were lipstick marks all over Jimi's face. Double awesome.Finally Seattle! Our first stop was the space needle of course!
Then we headed over next to the Key Arena where there is one magnificent faountain that tons of kids were playing in... so I took Anberlin over to cool off a bit.The next stop was Pike Place Market... good times... followed by the pier and feeding french fries to the seagulls... and ourselves.And since we got a late start that day we were going to need a place to stay. So Greg called up his old buddy Joe Morgan to see if we could drop in for a little visit. He said yes. And we were able to visit with him and stay the night there. Joe also just happens to live right down the street from Gas Works park. So we walked down there hung out for a bit. It was a very nice evening with a nice view of the city and there were lots of somewhat crazy people there as well:)Greg and Joe. Reunited!Friday was our final day... sad... but we were able to make one last stop... Snoqualmie Falls. They are pretty cool. Then we headed home... stopping in Yakima to eat... I don't think I would ever want to live in Yakima... its pretty ugly there.
Then we made it home safe and sound :)

p.s. I am sorry for all the links that my posts are ending up with... they aren't meant to be there... I am not putting them there... and I don't know how to get rid of them!!!

Happy Birthday

Well, I think its about time we updated this thing! Sorry we have been MIA for so long... we've been a little busy. SO here is the first update...

Last month Anberlin had her first birthday!!!! I can't believe how old and grown up she is getting! It has gone by so fast and we are loving every minute of it. She is such a sweet, cute, happy little girl (except when she has teeth coming in). She has so much character, and it is so fun to see it develop. Anyway, this first picture of her is from her birthday photo shoot...ha.Here she is at her birthday party with a couple of the cousins. I think she liked the balloons better than anything else she got. So easily entertained!

Yes, she is still needing me to walk... she has taken several steps. In fact her first steps were taken just 3 days before her birthday, and of course I missed those... but Greg did get to see them. She could totally walk if she actually wanted to, but apparently she doesn't want to quite yet... oh well, I guess I should be counting that as a blessing!

So earlier this month Anberlin started teething... I think its been kind of painful for her, but today it was painful for me. That's right, she bit me!!! I was taking her out of the bathroom and away from the mirror, which she loves to play with, and she did not like that. So, she bit me... and she has tried doing it before, but she usually does her little roar and gnaws on my shoulder. However, this time she just happened to get a nice grip on my lower lip... and it really hurt! I even had a little mark from her little tooth that's poking through! I have a feeling this won't be
the last time...

in fact, even as I am writing this she is trying to bite my leg.

It is FINALLY done!!! Istarted this painting for the ginormous empty wall in our stairwell back in October... And I have now completed it!! YAY! Greg was getting really annoyed having to always step around it:) But I had to have a place that had decent lighting, and the walkway between our dining area and the living room was the best place! So my gift to him for Valentines day was to finally get this thing out of the way and up on the wall where it should be. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out... now I need to paint the walls and put up other things on the other empty walls in the stairwell so the whole thing looks good!

We haven't finished baby-proofing so we better hurry

Well, Anberlin can now crawl, and she is getting into everything! I am trying right now to upload a video of it, but so far it is unsuccessful... I might just have to wait until Greg gets home! But while you wait for that fantastic clip, here are a few pics to entertain!

So before Anberlin could actually crawl she was doing the army crawl... pulling herself along with her arms and she would separately get on her knees and rock or sometimes do this- get up on her tippy toes, its really funny looking.

here are a couple pictures showing just how funny and cute she can be... she can get SUPER excited... here it just happens to be because she has her new favorite toy- a Beaker- oh how she loves him!

Or sometimes hates him and shows it by gnawing on his feet... its a love/hate relationship.

BATH TIME!!! Anberlin loves her baby girl bath time! Especially when she can see herself in the chrome fixtures... and recently she has started trying to eat the water.

Palo Mesa Longboard

I found out that one of my co-worker's brother makes long boards. What was cool was that you could customize the board the way you liked. He allowed me to choose the length of the board, trucks, wheels, and even the type of wood and stripe designs. The list of woods to choose from are quite exotic and cool looking. I chose lacewood (the lighter wood) with black limba wood stripes. He recommend Seismic Trucks, which are unique because they use springs instead of bushings. They are the 180mm 30 degree trucks with Seismic speed vent 73mm 80a wheels w/ abec7 bearings. Since it's winter, we'll stick to parking garages, but I look forward to summer/fall riding to see how this board rides. It truly is a beautiful board and the options are limitless when customizing it.

We're Luvin Christmas Time

Well here we go from start to finish with all of our Christmas
adventures!!!
At the beginning of December we went out and picked our tree.... It was a little different for both of us- we went to a lot and just sorted through until we found one we liked. My family would always go to a tree farm, pick out our tree and then cut it down ourselves, and Greg has never had a real live tree before... so I guess we kind of met in the middle!

our awesome Christmas tree... a little bare... but eventually we'll get there.

Our ward Christmas partay... splendid. I am on the activities committee... and from this picture it looks like we didn't do anything... and I guess it wasn't quite as amazing as I had envisioned- but we really did decorate and make it all festive like.

I was kind of surprised that Anberlin was ok with sitting on Santa's lap... I was afraid she might start screaming... but she just looked at me like "ok I guess I will sit through this just to please you..."

This is when Anberlin thought she would try to take a peek at some of her presents early...

But then she got distracted by the tree and started pulling off all the needles.

Christmas Eve we went over to Greg's parents and all the kids got some presents including new PJs and some books... They all looked so cute in their semi-matching nighties.

CHRISTMAS MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was fresh snow on the ground and it was awesome!!! I love having a white Christmas... I haven't been able to experience it many times, but I was so happy that Anberlin's first was a white one:)

Anberlin had fun playing with the wrapping paper and hitting her boxes while Greg and I opened our presents and got exactly what we asked for! ;)

After we opened our gifts we headed over to Greg's parents once again and spent the rest of the day over there. We got to talk to Greg's youngest brother who is on his mission in Argentina- and coming home very soon, less than a month left now. So it was good to hear how he is doing. Then we opened more presents and got lots more goodies!!!

Yes, those are targets and bullets that Greg is holding... I think all of the guys in his family have become obsessed with guns now that Obama was elected! Haha! Get em while you still can! I got some new paint brushes which I was in desperate need of- thanks Amber!!!

Anberlin got all sorts of fun stuff, including some new stuffed animals- which kind of turn into chew toys for her... a pretty tutu... and her favorite gift of all by far- a jumper!!! She LOVES that thing! Now all she wants to do is JUMP... even when she's not in it she still is jumping, in your hands, on her belly on the floor- her legs just go up and down, up and down! Its really cute, especially since her face gets super intense!

After doing the whole present thing, we took a family photo-yay! And a little later we had a wonderful Christmas dinner! It was a great day full of terrific memories!

I can't wait for next time we get to have all the family in town! Its so much fun hanging out and spending time together... and Anberlin loves her cousins, she has become so much more social just over the past couple weeks from being around more kids! You can tell she loves being around them, even when they do frustrate her at times and she has to yell at them!!!

And I just had to get a picture of the snow- I know its pretty lame that I didn't get more, especially with us in the snow- but its snowing right now and I guess I will have to make up for that now! WHoohoo!

Yeah, she's 5 months old and talking. She's pretty much the smartest girl ever. She is currently grasping objects that she sees and then automatically puts them in her mouth. She so precious and we love her so much.

Well I finally got Anberlin on film rolling over!!!

So its been a while since we posted last, so here is a little catching up for ya...
(and just so you know I had to do 3 different posts to get all the pictures up that I wanted and I couldn't get them in the right order... I guess I am slightly challenged. Plus I somehow managed to get this underline thing going and can't get rid of it for some reason)

So about a week ago she rolled over unassisted for the first time, yay! I had her on the couch next to me and she rolled over (belly to back), but I wasn't sure if it was just because I was causing a slant:) so I put her on the floor and went to get her pajamas... and when I came back she was rolled over! I missed it!!! and Greg wasn't home, so he missed it too! So I have been trying to catch her on camera rolling over all week but have been unsuccessful:( Time to start watching her really close...

Here we have her in her blessing dress which happened on Aug. 10th. This dress was incredibly hard to get her pictured in, she kept slipping down in it and sliding around and then she just got way too fussy... luckily we got a couple good ones!

This was our day trip to Seattle during our slightly longer trip to WA to visit family and go to my step-sister's wedding. Greg and Anberlin fed the seagulls fries...fun.

Anberlin got to meet Sylvia and Sylvester (not pictured, but just as creepy) this is my favorite picture from the trip...we all have the same face going!

And this is a picture with beautiful Seattle behind us... and right before Anberlin had a massive blowout! All in all it was a fun day, wish we could have spent more time there... we love Seattle... and Greg most especially loves Ivar's.

Well, its been a while since we've updated anything, but everything is going good with us. Anberlin is doing great, just growing too fast!!! I can't believe she is already 5 weeks old... and getting sooo big! She had her 1 month Dr.'s appointment last week and she is already 10 lbs. which puts her in the 95% for her age.

She has started smiling at us intentionally, she seems to like it when I sing to her in the mornings... especially when I am singing along to Imogen Heap. Thats right, we're training her early on good music! And she is so much more aware of things now. I think she recognizing familiar people, and she loves walking around so she can look at everything. She is definitely a cutie, I guess we'll keep her.

Here she is at one week! See she can already count... So far it has been amazing!

She is so cute, and I don't believe the pictures even do her justice. Well during this week there have been lots of firsts (obviously)... one of my favorites has been seeing her smile! She isn't really awake when she does it, but I still love seeing it! In fact today I heard her laugh for the first time! It was so cute!!! And once again she wasn't really awake, it makes me wonder what it is she's dreaming about and how thin the veil really is! She had her first doctors appointment today, and everything looks good. She is already 8 lbs! Usually they are still under their birth weight at this point... so it looks like we have a porker! Last night she slept pretty well, but it seems to go back and forth... the night before I only got 4 hours of sleep:( However, last night she really did a number on me when I was trying to change her diaper... let me just say projectile poop... all over the changing pad, the wall, a little on the carpet, and all over me! Good thing it cleans up, and I can change clothes!

Well, after spending 2 days in the NICU, Anberlin was finally released to us. Jacqui was then discharged from the hospital a few hours later. We are so excited and happy to have her home and not be in the hospital. I was getting pretty ansy being there and it didn't help either that it was where I worked too. We are starting to get her schedule (feeding/sleep/diaper changes) figured out. It's getting better. She loves to sleep midway through her feeding, but she's starting to down a ton of milk so that's good.

Jacqui is a great mom and is so diligent with Anberlin's demanding feeding schedule. What a blessing these two are in my life.

Well, a few hours after the baby was born we had our family doctor check Anberlin out to see if everything was good to go. The doctor noticed a few unusual actions by the baby and ordered some blood tests to be done. I guess they came back with a high white blood cell count, usually indicating some type of bacterial infection. So, last night they took Anberlin up to the NICU for some more tests and to keep a close eye on her. She'll be up there at least until Wednesday morning when the blood cultures come back from the lab.

This whole experience has been a roller coaster, with Jacqui's excruciating contractions, then to see her smiling with the epidural, then to find out there was meconium in the amniotic fluid, suggesting the infant could inhale it while going through the birth canal, which could lead severe respiratory problems. Thankfully, the birth went okay. I wasn't able to cut the umbilical cord because they had to rush the delivery so they could clear her airway and lungs of the meconium. The actual birth is unreal and was priceless. Simply the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Then, to find out that she had to go the NICU literally broke our hearts. It was difficult for me to see her there. We are praying for the best.

At 11:11 a.m. on June 16, 2008 Anberlin Jean Tingey was born. She weighed 7 pounds 8 oz. and was 20 inches long. Jacqui did an amazing job and there were no major complications. It was amazing to see how here countenance completely changed after she received the epidural. It hurt me to see her in so much pain. Anberlin is quite docile and loves to be bundled up nice and tight. She is quite cute for a new born, but I'm obviously biased. Can't wait to see how she looks when the cone head goes away and all the facial features start maturing. We'll keep you posted. Here she is.

Well... tonight we go to the hospital so Jacko can take some drugs. We'll be staying the night there, so we should be a mommy and daddy by tomorrow. I think she is about to burst at the seams. I can't even imagine what twins would look like. Poor woman.

Well, I had my doctors appointment today, and heres the news! I am NOT progressing well :( If I were to wait it out and try to go into labor on my own, it might be a while. So we talked about inducing labor to get this girl out of me. She wanted to get me into labor and delivery on the 18th... but it turns out they are pretty busy this week and didn't have room for me then or the day before or after. In fact the best day for me to get in was for this Monday!!! So I am scheduled to go in Sunday night so they can start me on meds to get me going, I will stay the night and Monday morning they will induce. Finally I am going to have my baby!!! I can't wait. Stay tuned for some amazing photos! (Hopefully there will be plenty of me looking like a sweaty drowned rat!)
